Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 July 2026

SmoothPressure helps you log blood pressure readings for yourself and the people you care for, and keep track of them for personal reference. We know these readings are personal, so this policy explains — in plain language — what information SmoothPressure handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

SmoothPressure ("SmoothPressure", "we", "us", or "our") provides the SmoothPressure mobile application and this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at smoothpressure-support@mails.bysali.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the SmoothPressure mobile app and the SmoothPressure website. It does not cover third-party services we rely on to run SmoothPressure (see "Third-party services we rely on" below), each of which handles data under its own privacy policy.

3. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the app.

Account information. When you create an account, our authentication provider handles your sign-in details — your email address, and, if you choose to sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares (such as your name and email). You may optionally add a name and a profile photo. This account information identifies you as a user; it is kept separate from the health readings described below.

Blood pressure readings and related entries. These are the readings you enter yourself: the top number (systolic) and bottom number (diastolic), pulse where provided, the date and time, and which profile the reading belongs to. You may also add optional free-text notes and medication names to a reading.

Profiles you create. SmoothPressure lets you keep separate profiles for the people you log readings for (for example, yourself and a parent). A profile holds a display name and, optionally, an age. These are labels you choose to organise readings — you decide what to enter.

Photos you scan (Smart Scan). If you use Smart Scan to read a value from a photo of a monitor, the image is processed to extract the numbers. See "Smart Scan" below for how those images are handled.

Basic technical information. Like most apps, SmoothPressure may process basic technical information needed to operate reliably and securely, such as app version and the requests your device makes to our service. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.

4. How we use your information

We use your information only to provide SmoothPressure and keep it working:

  • To let you create an account and sign in securely.
  • To save the readings, notes, profiles, and other entries you create, and show them back to you.
  • To help you track your readings over time for personal reference — such as showing trends and generating a report you can share with a doctor.
  • To read numbers from a photo when you use Smart Scan.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To respond to you when you contact us.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use your health readings to show you advertising.

5. How your information is stored and protected

Your readings are stored in a managed cloud database. We design SmoothPressure to keep sensitive information protected:

  • Separation of identity from readings. The tables that store readings do not contain your email or other contact details. Readings are linked to profiles and account identifiers, not to personal contact information.
  • Encryption of free-text. Free-text fields you enter — such as notes and medication names — are encrypted before they are stored, so they are not held as readable plain text in our database.
  • Encryption in transit. Information moving between the app and our service travels over encrypted connections.
  • Access controls.Access to a reading is limited to the account that owns it and to people you have specifically invited to that profile's care circle.

No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Smart Scan (photo processing)

Smart Scan lets you take or choose a photo of a blood pressure monitor so the app can read the numbers for you instead of typing them. To do this, the image is sent to a third-party AI processing service (accessed through Vercel's AI Gateway) that extracts the values. The image is used only to perform that extraction and return the numbers to you. SmoothPressure does not keep a copy of the scanned image as part of your saved reading — only the numbers you confirm are saved. Smart Scan reads what is in the photo for your convenience; it does not diagnose anything or offer medical assessment.

7. Sharing within your care circle

SmoothPressure is built so that sharing only ever happens when you choose it. You can invite someone to a profile's care circle so they can help keep track of readings. Sharing is invitation-based and role-based: the people you invite see only the profile you invited them to, and only at the access level you grant. You can review and change this. We never share a profile's readings with anyone you have not invited.

8. Reports and PDF exports

SmoothPressure can generate a PDF report of readings — for example, to bring to a doctor's appointment. Reports are generated on demand and streamed to you at the moment you request them; we do not keep a stored copy of the generated report on our servers. Once you have the file, it is yours to keep or share as you wish.

9. Third-party services we rely on

We use a small number of trusted providers to run SmoothPressure. Each processes data only as needed to provide their part of the service, under their own privacy terms:

  • Authentication — manages sign-in and your account credentials (email sign-in and, optionally, Google sign-in).
  • Cloud database hosting — stores your readings and profiles in a managed cloud Postgres database.
  • Application hosting — runs our service that the app talks to.
  • AI photo processing — extracts numbers from a photo when you use Smart Scan.

If you sign in with Google, Google's own privacy policy also applies to the information Google shares with us.

10. Data retention

We keep your readings, profiles, and account information for as long as your account is active, so the app can show you your history. You can delete individual readings, and you can request deletion of your account and its associated data (see "Your choices and rights"). When you delete data, we remove it from our active systems; residual copies may persist briefly in routine backups before being overwritten in the normal course.

11. Your choices and rights

You are in control of your information. Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights; regardless, SmoothPressure aims to offer the following to everyone:

  • Access — view the readings and entries you have saved, at any time, in the app.
  • Correction — edit or update readings, notes, and profile details you have entered.
  • Deletion — delete individual readings, remove profiles, or request deletion of your account and its data.
  • Export — generate a PDF report of readings to keep or share.
  • Control over sharing — decide who, if anyone, is invited to a care circle, and withdraw access.

To make a request that you can't complete directly in the app, contact us at smoothpressure-support@mails.bysali.com and we will help.

12. Children's privacy

SmoothPressure is intended for adults keeping track of blood pressure readings for themselves or people in their care. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. A caregiver may create a profile to log readings on another person's behalf; the account and its choices remain the responsibility of the adult account holder.

13. The SmoothPressure website

This website presents information about SmoothPressure and hosts this policy and our Terms & Conditions. It serves static informational pages and does not require you to sign in or use tracking cookies to read them.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a feature or change a provider. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continuing to use SmoothPressure after an update means the updated policy applies.

15. Contact us
